Ireland: Couple found dead in Tipperary bungalow may have died 18 months ago during lockdown | World News

Police in Ireland have found two bodies that may have gone undiscovered in a bungalow for more than 18 months.

The man and woman were found on June 20 in Cloneen, Co Tipperary, according to Gardai, who said they were investigating “all circumstances”.

The bodies were retired cruise liner captain Nicholas Smith, 82, and his wife Hilary, 79, according to the Irish Times.

It said they were found in separate rooms after neighbors became concerned for the couple’s welfare, with some apparently believing they had moved to France.

Judging by items in their fridge, the Irish Times said police believe they died during a strict COVID lockdown in late 2020.

There was reportedly no sign of any weapons or foul play.

Post-mortem examinations reportedly took place on Tuesday for more than nine hours, but initial results were inconclusive.
