China ramps up efforts to boost employment for fresh graduates


Initiatives include a series of pro-employment campaigns to move job interviews online and incentivising firms to increase their employee count.

China is ramping up efforts to support employment for its fresh graduates, in a year where the country is expected to produce 10.76 million graduates.

In May, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security launched a nationwide online recruiting platform that will last till August 25 to promote over 10 million job openings, offer occupational training lessons and employment counseling, reports ECNS news.

By June 5, some 340,000 employers had posted 9.77 million jobs on the platform, which led to physical events across the country.

For instance, North China’s city of Gaobeidian invited seven companies to livestream to graduates of Hebei University, which garnered some 50,000 views.

Other initiatives taken by the government include organizing a series of pro-employment campaigns to move job interviews online and incentivising firms to increase their employee count.

China’s surveyed urban unemployment rate last month stood at 5.9%.
